I read "Harpoon of the Hunter" for a children's literature class, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's not a book that I would recommend to younger readers- not only because it really communicates in a strong, vivid manner the harshness and danger of Kamik's world, but also because there's a complexity to the way it deals with the themes of struggle and by: 4.

Based on an Inuit legend, Harpoon of the Hunter is a story of life in the old days, not as it appeared to southerners, but as it has survived in the memory of the Inuit themselves.

Emerging from a largely oral tradition, it is the first novel by an Inuit written in English/5(53). Harpoon of the Hunter is the widely acclaimed story of Kamik, a young hero who comes to manhood while on a treacherous hunt for a wounded polar bear. In this astonishing tale of a people struggling for survival in a brutal environment, Markoosie describes life in the Canadian Arctic before the arrival of the first White trappers or whalers.

This book is a boys own adventure from start to finish, It is extremely well written and as a non-fiction book contains lots of relevant information about the dealings of Harpoon. Anyone with even a vague interest in terrorism and how we go about dealing with it would do well to read this book/5().

This is the story of how Mossad led this movement and substantially effected investigations of terrorism and similarly important matters and how this influenced.

A harpoon is a long spear-like instrument used in fishing, whaling, sealing, and other marine hunting to catch large fish or marine mammals such as whales.

It accomplishes this task by impaling the target animal and securing it with barb or toggling claws, allowing the fishermen to use a rope or chain attached to the projectile to catch the animal. A harpoon can also be used as a weapon.
